Location: Berlin, Germany.
Duration: Since 2009.
Education: I studied art history and design before joining the support team of legendary Spanish photographer Álvaro Villarrubia. It was there that I became obsessed with learning digital photography.
Cultural influences: My affinity for dollish characters comes from the traditional south German carnivals with their wooden masks and eerie costumes made of felt.
Artistic influences: Rogier van der Weyden, Jean-Paul Goude, Leigh Bowery, Pina Bausch as well as Bauhaus artists like Oskar Schlemmer.
First big break: In 2010, I was asked to create an ironic online campaign for Diesel's Fresh and Bright mens’ underwear illustrating superheroes with ridiculous superpowers.
Technique: As both the photographer and art director, I’m involved in every step of the creative process from sketch to final. I use all kinds of objects and materials to create photographic statues, with or without models. Sometimes the artwork is made up of several images combined in post-production.
Philosophy: Never lose the magic and don’t overdo the concept.
