Background: Tilsatec, a Wakefield, United Kingdom–based manufacturer of specialist safety gloves, sleeves and wrist guards, needed a new website to reintroduce its rebranded identity to the world. We wanted to open up the website for new business and make current product information accessible for existing customers.

Highlights: The new site features shortcuts to resources, downloadable brochures, sortable product grids, an updated news section and enquiry forms on every product page. Subtle rollover animations and friendly instructions guide users around the site in a non­intrusive way. The site design also makes great use of its striking photography, introducing users to view products via a swipeable carousel of images.

Challenges: Since Tilsatec originally had two separate websites—one to service the European market and one for North America—the biggest challenge for us was merging the two sites together into one master site, while keeping market specific products separate.

Favorite details: Tilsatec wanted to take its rebrand, translate it into a modern website suitable for all platforms and create a unique online experience in the process. We’ve had great feedback from both Tilsatec and its customers, so we must have done something right!

Navigation structure: Since it was a nightmare to navigate the previous website, one of our main tasks was to make this new site easy to navigate—which we did by housing all its products, resources and news into separate sections. The biggest improvement was the addition of the site search, which has allowed users to instantly find the products right for them.

Alternative approaches: We’re really happy with the end result, but if we were starting the project again, we’d tackle the more difficult stuff earlier in the process, including the solution for filtering the products and the geo-location functions. In regards to how the site looks and feels, I don’t think we’d change a thing.
