Responses by Zoe Hu, designer; Finnian Langham, developer; and Danny Pemberton, creative director, Love + Money.

Background: “Euphemia is a family office who nurtures a diverse, progressive, intelligent and ambitious community that’s going to build the future of Australia,” says Danny Pemberton. “Euphemia doesn’t just want to make awesome: it wants to make the awesome that makes the awesome. Therefore, its website targets ambitious Australian startups in need of help—funding, advice and community—who want to build a more awesome, inclusive future for Australia and the world.”

Larger picture: “The primary function of the website’s first release is to introduce Euphemia to the world and provide a way for startups to reach out and start a conversation with Euphemia,” Pemberton says. “This is just the beginning, though; we’ve got a podcast series lined up, starting with interviews with Euphemia founders Dominic Pym and Judy Anderson-Firth, and the Euphemia team has plenty of great ideas for future features for subsequent releases. Keep your eyes peeled!”

Design core: “We always anchor our creative and digital work around a central idea—or ‘meme,’” says Pemberton. “The meme we developed for Euphemia was ‘Make Awesome Make Awesome,’ which explains how Euphemia are striving to build a platform that will enable the next generation of entrepreneurs to create a future that’s even better than what we can currently imagine. It’s like a flywheel effect. If we can ‘make awesome’ today, that will enable others to make awesome tomorrow. The entire visual language of the brand is built around this concept, and we worked hard to bring this meme to life on this site too.”

Favorite details: “We’re always proud of bringing a high level of digital craft to each project, and Euphemia has been one of our favorites for the number of bespoke interactions we’ve built in,” says Zoe Hu. “We added lots of animations and fun hoverstates to bring a sense of playfulness and dynamism. There are also a handful of Easter eggs hidden throughout the site: Click the Make Awesome button in the footer and see what happens. We won’t spoil it!”

Technology: “The site uses Sanity CMS for content management and was built with React and Gatsby,” says Finnian Langham.
