Background: Emergence Magazine is a quarterly online publication, with an annual printed edition, featuring innovative stories that explore the threads connecting ecology, culture and spirituality. An initiative of Kalliopeia Foundation, each issue features a theme explored through innovative digital media as well as the written word.

Highlights: As an ecological journal publishing in a time of ecological crisis, we seek to create the practice of slow consumption at the heart of every issue. The design follows this “slow consumption approach” with balanced typography, use of whitespace and minimal navigation.

Challenges: For each issue, we have the freedom to create new stories with their own visual content and digital format. Using this freedom to the maximum extent while keeping a clear creative line within the issue itself is great fun, but definitely challenging.
