"Anyone who attends their share of rock shows has had those moments where their ass is handed to them by a performer who puts on such an amazing show that people don't know whether to clap their hands or crap their pants. Think of people like Iggy & The Stooges, The Flaming Lips, James Brown. Dan Deacon is in that category. Deacon, who also holds a master’s degree in electro-acoustic composition, creates music that crosses lines between children's sing-alongs and avant/noise. He performs solo (usually on the floor of the club as opposed to the stage) with just a pile of salvaged Casio keyboards, trashy wires and a vocoder. For the poster we took our cues from Deacon's music, his choice of notoriously ugly '80s thrift store T-shirts, the haphazard compositions of our own test prints and the ‘trippy green skull’ that Mr. Deacon employs in his amazing live performances."
