Architectural Type Studies: Light + Shadow. “While I visited Basel, Switzerland, I photographed buildings, public spaces, and architectural moments of light and shadow as I walked through the city. These photographs both served as memories of these buildings and as a canvas for exploring forms. Having collected many photographs, I started to crop them into interesting moments that became almost typographic, reducing the photos to single elements and focusing on formal qualities within the architecture. Transitions of light to dark emerged, and I explored how these transitions could be used to draw the interior and exterior spaces of letterforms.”
